We had a visitor today!

This morning (before our Fire Drill) we had a visitor come to Room 41.  It was The Cat in the Hat! The kids were so excited to see a character that we have been reading all about. It came in and shared with our class that we should make good choices, unlike it's friends "Thing 1" and "Thing 2".   The Cat in the Hat also shared with us that if you ever have "Thing 1" and "Thing 2" over for dinner, their favorite meal is Meatloaf with Truffula Trees.

**Thanks Mrs. Polk for making our students day!  (Parents she is a second grade teacher if you want to to keep that info in your back pocket.  Wink! Wink!)

Dr. Seuss Timeline

We have established a Dr. Seuss Timeline outside our room.  We want our students to see how his books were not written overnight but where something he worked on throughout his life.  When discussing his life and accomplishments we brought to their attention that when trying to publish his first book And To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street he was rejected 27 times before his hard work paid off.  We hope that they take away something from his story....if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!  Here are a few snapshots from our timeline above our outside bulletin board.  We are adding the books as we discuss them, so far we have 3 book titles.

We are SO WACKY!

This day has been so WACKY!  We have worked hard today, despite the WACKINESS!  We were able to read Wacky Wednesday today.  Our students really enjoyed listening to the story and talking about all the ZANY things that they found in the story. Because the story was so much fun we wanted them to have a chance to be WACKY themselves.  Here are their pictures from WACKY Wednesday...

And don't forget we like to be WACKY too....

You Won't Believe It!

When we came in today our room was completely WACKY! We could not believe how many WACKY things there were.  You should have seen their faces when they walked through the door and the room was turned upside down.  We spend some time this morning discussing all of the WACKY things that we could find in our room.  Our best guess is Thing 1 and Thing 2 decided to show us how WACKY our room could be....just like the book we are reading today Wacky Wednesday. If you have not had a chance to read that Dr. Seuss book, it is a funny read! Here are all they Wacky things that were in our room....and the kids faces when they came in:)

The library table and chairs were out of the library
Jazmin shows us the Cheese Ball container was upside down

The pointers were on the table and someone (we think Thing 1 and Thing 2) painted a hat on the table

Our outside toys were inside today, and someone had FUN with them

A Kleenex Box was stuck to the wall

Our Tricycle was on the carpet...How CRAZY!

The Easel was switched with the Math Tools

Our Essential Questions were WACKY!

It's Not DECEMBER!

The Center Chart was Empty and RtI was in the wrong spot!

Do you notice what is wrong with the Conduct Pocket Chart?

Dr. Seuss left his signature...painted on a table turned on its side

One of our work tables were in the library...it didn't seem to fit very well

There were balloons hanging from the ceiling

They were moving their heads so quickly trying to take it all in

WOW!

Who painted on the table?

Thanks to Torin for putting the Trike back in the closet

I need a tissue...oh here it is on the back of the bookcase:)
It has been an exciting morning....and it's only 9:15:)
